About this collection

The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences was chartered by an act of Congress on September 21, 1972 in order to train a cadre of medical officers for the uniformed services.  For many years, the University had to defend itself from detractors in Congress and to call on support from the military and medical community to ensure that it would not be shut down.  This collection includes material relating to various attempts to close the University as well as other Congressional documents relating to the University.
